The new and innovative Canterbury Cancer Centre will meet the community's changing needs for cancer care now and in the future.

The new Canterbury Cancer Centre has now opened at 74 Langdons Rd, Christchurch and is the first of its kind, providing integrated cancer support for patients from across the South Island Te Waipounamu.

The new and innovative building design includes the largest accommodation facility for South Island cancer patients and a new cancer hub for our local Canterbury patients to have a dedicated place of support, including:

  • Spaces where local people with cancer can access free support, counselling and other services provided by the Cancer Society.
  • A base for cancer organisations and their teams to provide critical cancer services to those staying in our accommodation and those living locally going through treatment.
  • Spaces where people with cancer and whānau can attend support groups and programmes.
  • A landscaped garden where patients, whānau and visitors can connect with nature.

How you can support the Centre

When you’re dealing with cancer, having a place to go for support, advice and information is more precious than you think.

With 1 out of 3 people receiving a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, cancer is something that touches us all, whether through whānau, friends or workplaces. This year alone 26,000 New Zealanders will learn they have cancer. This number is set to double in the next decade.

We need help from our communities throughout the South Island Te Wai Pounamu to help maintain the building and key services so it continues to be a comfortable and welcoming place for people to come to during an extremely challenging time in their lives.

You can support the Canterbury Cancer Centre by joining us as a Partner or by visiting our More Precious Registry/Rārangi and donating the funds for us to provide precious services needed for our guests.
