"At a time like this, friends and family mean everything."

Like most Kiwis, Trevor Thompson is looking forward to the summer holiday and a chance to spend time with his two teenage children. A family trip to Queenstown is a bright spot on the horizon after a tough year following Trevor’s diagnosis with a brain tumour in March.

Trevor lives at Okawa Bay on the shores of Lake Rotoiti and is a regular at a weekly Walk and Talk group at the Redwood Forest and the monthly Rotorua cancer support group

Trevor talked about his diagnosis, keeping stress at bay and staying positive during treatment, and the importance of family. He also shared his experiences with the Cancer Society and the support he’s received from local supportive care nurse Andrea Youngs and the people he has met through support groups and programmes.
